Editorial Policy

Clear information. Honest context. No one-cause answers.

NOTZLEPT is an independent sleep wellness publication. Our editorial goal is to help readers better understand sleep-related questions without oversimplifying complex topics or turning every problem into an opportunity to sell a product.

We believe good sleep information should be useful, understandable and transparent about what is known, what is uncertain and what may vary from person to person.

Our editorial principles

We start with the questions people actually ask.

That may be waking up at 3AM, feeling exhausted while the mind refuses to switch off, struggling to stay asleep, waking unrefreshed or wondering whether hormones, stress, environment or daily habits could be contributing.

We do not assume that one symptom automatically points to one cause.

A nighttime awakening does not automatically mean cortisol. A midlife sleep problem does not automatically mean menopause. And difficulty sleeping does not automatically mean someone needs a supplement.

Our job is to provide context before conclusions.

How we research our content

When an article includes health or sleep-related claims, we aim to rely on credible sources such as government health agencies, recognized medical institutions, peer-reviewed research and established sleep or health organizations.

We may also review product information, manufacturer documentation and other relevant sources when discussing specific products.

The strength of the wording we use should reflect the strength of the available evidence.

When evidence is limited, mixed or uncertain, we aim to say so clearly.

Medical and health content

NOTZLEPT provides general educational information.

We do not diagnose sleep disorders, prescribe treatments or replace the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.

Sleep symptoms can have many possible causes. Some may be related to habits or environment, while others can involve medical conditions that deserve professional evaluation.

When appropriate, our content will encourage readers to seek medical guidance rather than attempting to solve persistent or concerning symptoms through online advice alone.

Product recommendations

Our editorial content and commercial relationships are separate.

We may earn commissions from some products or services mentioned on NOTZLEPT, but an affiliate relationship does not guarantee a positive recommendation.

When evaluating a product, we aim to consider its intended use, ingredients or specifications, available evidence, price, policies, potential limitations and relevant alternatives.

We do not claim to have personally tested a product unless we actually have.

You can read more about this process in How We Review Products.

Affiliate relationships

Some links on NOTZLEPT may be affiliate links.

If a reader purchases through one of those links, NOTZLEPT may receive a commission without increasing the price paid by the reader.

Affiliate relationships help support the publication, but they should not determine the conclusions of our editorial content.

Commercial relationships will be disclosed where relevant.

Corrections and updates

Sleep research, product formulations, pricing and policies can change.

We may update previously published articles when new information becomes available, when a product changes or when we identify information that could be made clearer or more accurate.

If we discover a material factual error, our goal is to correct it rather than quietly preserve inaccurate information.

Reviews and experience

There is a difference between analyzing a product and personally testing one.

When an article is based on editorial research rather than firsthand testing, we will not represent it as personal experience.

If NOTZLEPT later conducts firsthand product testing, that experience may be described clearly within the relevant article.

AI and editorial tools

We may use digital tools, including AI-assisted tools, to support research organization, topic development, drafting or editorial workflows.

These tools do not change our editorial standards.

Published claims should still be supported by appropriate sources, and AI-generated statements should not be treated as evidence on their own.

Our goal is accuracy and usefulness — regardless of which tools support the publishing process.

Our approach to uncertainty

Sleep is complicated.

Sometimes the most responsible answer is not:

“This is the reason.”

It is:

“This is one possibility worth considering.”

NOTZLEPT aims to make that distinction clear.

Because better information doesn’t come from pretending every question has one simple answer.

Look at the pattern before you blame the cause.
